The Autism Families Association (AFA) is preparing to launch the Prince Faisal bin Bandar Health and Physical Rehabilitation Programme for people with autism for its fourth session in early August at the headquarters of the Youth House in Riyadh.
The programme will bring together more than 50 young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to develop and hone their sporting skills within 4 consecutive months with the support of success partner Ihsan Platform.

The programme includes a range of different sports tracks ranging from football, basketball, tennis, swimming, gymnastics, fitness games and aerobic sports, all of which aim to contribute to raising the levels of progress and development of people with autism in terms of physical, psychological, mental and more.
The Saudi Special Olympics Federation will also provide advanced sports training programmes for autistic youth by elite international trainers in the first phase of the programme.
His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz bin Farhan Al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, said: "The implementation of developmental programmes for our loved ones with autism spectrum disorder is one of our top priorities in our strategic plans aimed at improving the quality of life of our children with autism at many levels, of which sports is one of the most prominent pillars, by refining and developing the abilities and skills of our enthusiastic youth in the skill aspect.
Based on what has been scientifically proven, sports and movement activities have a direct and clear impact on the development and improvement of people with autism in several social, psychological, mental and physical aspects, which is mainly reflected in our interest and keenness to design sports programmes according to the best standards and with the most important relevant authorities. The programme has brought together more than 300 young people with autism spectrum disorder in its previous editions in Riyadh and the Eastern Province.
