The Autism Families Association (AFA) has won the Stevie Award for innovation in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for its Rishat Tayf project, which focuses on developing the skills and talents of people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the plastic arts.
On Saturday evening in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, the Association was honored amidst the presence of prominent authorities, officials, and dignitaries from various countries and sectors around the world.
The award was won by Risha Tayf, a first-of-its-kind creative project that showcased over 100 inspiring paintings created by 100 Saudi visual artists.
The project's art exhibitions took place in five cities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, strategically located in vital areas and significant social centers, sparking a remarkable response from the public.
In addition, more than one charity auction was held for the same project, featuring paintings created by various artists. These artworks were acquired by prominent legal figures, most notably His Excellency Chancellor Turki Al Sheikh, who purchased a painting valued at 1,000,000 riyals. The charity auctions collectively raised over 4,000,000 riyals.
This innovative project aligns with the Association's objectives, focusing on the empowerment and development of the talents and creativity of individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Additionally, it aims to create financial sustainability for the establishment of projects and centers dedicated to fostering creativity and arts for people with autism.
His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz bin Farhan Al Saud, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, stated: 'This award and honor result from a systematic work strategy aimed at making a difference in the lives of thousands of people with autism spectrum disorder in the Kingdom.”
The Reshat Tayf project aims to foster widespread societal awareness of the creativity and talents inherent in individuals with autism. It seeks to engage all segments of society and various personalities in the exploration of art through the unique vision of people with autism.
The Association works with inexhaustible motivation to open horizons, discover the strengths of individuals with autism, and secure opportunities for their sustainability through major model development projects. This award marks a new achievement in our journey towards empowerment and the development of the autism sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It is noteworthy to mention that two months ago, the Autism Families Association was honored with the international Great Place to Work Award, becoming the first specialized association in the Kingdom to receive this recognition.
